A luscious, overgrown path extends into the distance, lined on both sides by an arching tunnel of trees. As seasons change, the grass grows to be nearly a foot deep before Autumn greets us with a beautiful bed of golden leaves that lasts through winter.

The water-carved banks of the iconic Chattahoochee River create incredible terrain and depth. Our section of river is also perfectly backlit by the setting sun for immaculate golden-hour portraits.

Just outside the studio is a stunning natural moss lawn under a canopy of hardwood trees. On one end is a mature oak with a pristine mound of moss around it, and on the other, a field of wildflowers.

Q: Where do outdoor portrait sessions take place?
While most of our work takes place in the incredible outdoor spaces adjacent to our studio, we can also travel to your property, nearby botanical gardens, parks, or wherever else your vision takes us. We photograph across Greater Atlanta and Gwinnett County and know the area well enough to match a location to your vision.
Q: What types of sessions work best outdoors?
Family portraits, maternity, high school senior, couples, children, and even personal branding sessions all translate beautifully to outdoor settings. Natural sunlight and dense foliage add depth and warmth that are hard to replicate in a studio, and the environment itself often becomes part of the story. Best of all, you don’t have to pick just one look; our multitude of indoor and outdoor scenes gives you unparalleled variety.

Spring, from late March through mid-May, brings fresh green before the humidity peaks and works especially well for graduation and family portraits. Summer frames you in a sea of mature greenery. Fall is the most popular for pairing sweaters with the warmth of golden leaves. And winter has a clean, minimal quality that photographs beautifully for dramatic senior and maternity looks. Q: What time of day do you prefer for outdoor sessions?
Golden hour, the last 60-90 minutes before sunset, is always the go to favorite for fine portraits. However, our dense canopies and variety of settings allow us to shoot stunning images no matter your schedule.
Q: What should we wear for outdoor portraits?
Wardrobe guidance is part of every session plan. For outdoor settings, soft neutrals, earthy tones, and flowing fabrics tend to photograph beautifully against the colors and textures of trees and foliage. Avoid large busy patterns or neon colors that compete with the environment. We will review your specific location, the season's color tones, and your family's complexions together, and provide opportunities for wardrobe changes to create and capture even more looks.
Q: Do you help choose the outdoor location, or is that up to us?
Either approach works. If you have a meaningful spot in mind, like a family farm or the spot you got engaged, we will build the session around what it offers. However, our stunning woods are what most people choose. During our consultation, we will figure out the right location and looks to give you the photoshoot you have always dreamed of?
Q: What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
We monitor conditions leading up to every outdoor session and reach out early if a reschedule makes sense. If a sudden summer shower rolls in, we will work then we will work around the rain or move into our indoor studio space.
Q: Can we combine outdoor and studio time in one session?
That is actually our most popular option across nearly all of our genres, from personal branding to maternity. Hybrid sessions also allow us more flexibility with lighting and weather conditions. Even if its just an a single indoor set before a long outdoor shoot, our flexibility is unparalleled.
